Final Project - Production

 Production - Day 1

The location for the first day of filming was Khadeja's house as it seemed the most efficient. There were no disadvantages such as permission, and extra costs. Francine and I went together, and arrived around 1 pm. We chose the drone shot as our main priority and our first shot because it required natural lighting, and we feared that it may become cloudy or the Sun would start to set. One of the problems we faced during the filming of the aerial shot was that there were trees nearby, which made it difficult to fly the drone at too much of a height. This meant that we had to be extra cautious not to run the drone into the trees. This however did occur, in one of the shots the drone flew into the tree causing a bit of a scare.

This was the behind the scenes for that shot. Apart from this mishap the shooting ran quite smoothly.

The next scene we began to film was Ren's scene in the kitchen; Ren was acted by Khadeja. The kitchen itself had quite low lighting and only a little natural light was available through the window. Therefore, we used a lamp I brought to brighten up the place. I filmed this scene and at first, it was quite hard for me to find the right angle without destabilising the camera. In the beginning, since the rest of us (not on camera) would also be saying our lines during shooting, Khadeja would accidentally look at one of us rather than the camera itself. She resolved this very quickly and we got the perfect shot in no time.

Then we filmed Sophia's office scene which did not take long either as the props were already set up (courtesy of Khadeja and Raaniya), and Francine was an incredible actress. This scene required some additional lighting as well. We also had to place the camera on a stack of books to capture the right angle, making sure the MacBook would not cover Francine's face.

After this, we moved onto Raaniya's scenes (her character: Mariam). This scene took a bit longer than the ones before, because the camera movement was difficult. The lighting was also not bright enough in the room. The only lighting was the slight natural one coming in through the window. However, this fit the scene as in the scene Mariam had just woken up, so the lack of lighting was not a huge problem. As soon as this scene was concluded, we took a lunch break to rest.

The last scene we ended up filming was my own. This scene's location was a bathroom, decorated in 2010s fitting props (Hello Kitty merch, etc), and it was filmed by Raaniya. The lighting in this location was perfect, and required no additional light. We had to carefully select a camera placement, making sure it would not be seen on the mirror in front of me (the actress). This scene required me to wash my hair, and then dry it again. This was my favourite scene because there was continuous laughter, during the shooting.
