Locations:
The finalised locations/sets, we decided to use:
We chose a kitchen as one of the settings to convey homeyness. The lights, as shown, are quite dull and disoriented, therefore we needed extra lighting to brighten up the scene. We used a lamp with white light for that purpose, which was physically held in place by a team member.
This set was used for the initial scenes, and also requires additional lighting. The background and table itself were decorated with various props, including hello kitty products, colourful notebooks, loom-band bracelets, and more, to relate it to the character.
This was used for the aerial shot of the protagonist, and consisted only of natural lighting. For this location specifically, we had to shoot around noon to make sure there was enough light. Moreover, there was a lot of unintentional background noise (street noise especially kids playing), which
made it slightly time consuming.
This bedroom was chosen as it looks organised, and fit what we were looking for. As only the bed/comforter would be in frame, this set did not require any additional props. It also did not need much lighting so a window was sufficient, allowing slight natural lighting to seep in.
This set was chosen mainly for the humorous and realistic aspect of the film opening. It did need props though, which included bathroom essentials, as well as additional funky/colourful props to relate to the setting. The only light used was an already available, warm bathroom light. Due to the mirror, we had to pay more attention to the camera placement to make sure that it would not be seen.
For this set, a different location was used. The scenes in this set also relied solely on natural lighting, as they were done outdoors and there was an ample amount of sunshine.
